Steps for Admission and Registration
  1. Take the Compass placement test that is administered to Occupational Skills (CNA) students to determine their appropriate placement. The exam is given at the Main Campus. You may reach the Main Campus Testing Center by calling (773) 291-6472 or 6473. The placement test is approximately three (3) hours long. You must bring: a #2 pencil, ball point pen, and a photo I.D. card. You must know your Social Security #. Sample test questions are available at the website www.act.org/compass, or stop by the testing center or South Chicago Campus.

Below are the Cut Off scores for the Occupational Programs

    Compass Reading - 90
    Compass Math - 36
    Compass Writing - 33

  2. If you meet the CNA requirements for placement, there is a mandatory orientation with Mr. Manuel J. Ortiz , College Advisor, every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. The orientation is approximately 30 minutes long. The orientation covers days and times of the program, CNA Policies and Procedures, Physical Health Examination Requirement, Criminal Background, State of Illinois requirements, CNA Exam, CPR and Grant information if eligible and available.

  3. If you scored below the cut off level for placement and do not have a high school diploma or GED diploma, then you will be referred to the Adult Education GED Program. If you have a high school diploma and did not meet the CNA requirements, the College Advisor will recommend that you meet with the tutor for two (2) hours a week and review four (4) hours at home per week.

  4. To complete the registration process, a student must make full payment or make arrangements for a partial payment plan with the Bursar's Office at the Main Campus. Program has a cost of $544.00 and additional $287.00 for materials and other fees. The CNA program enrollment is on a first come, first serve basis. The Front Office will complete your registration.

  5. Students may be referred to an Outside Agency for payment assistance. A referral is not a payment and does not reserve a seat in the program. You may pay by voucher to reserve a seat in the program.

  6. To obtain a photo ID, you must be officially registered in class. You will have access to many services, including Career Placement Center, Computer Lab, Learning Resource Center, Tutoring, Transfer Center, museum discounts, and much more. with a photo I.D.
