The Class A Commercial Driver Training Program at Olive-Harvey is an eight week course designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience.  Our program is a combination of classroom and behind-the-wheel training.  Students receive training in the principals of skills required to become safe and effective operators of commercial vehicles.  Our curriculum includes test preparation, pre-trip, log books, map reading, driving during adverse weather conditions, as well as adherence to local, state and federal requirements.  All students will be tested (on-site) by an Illinois Secretary of State Examiner and upon successful completion of the course; students will receive a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements and an Olive-Harvey Certificate of Completion.   In addition to Class A, we also offer courses in:

Commercial Driver Training

Class Descriptions
Class A-Commercial Driver Training Program

CE 013-337, CE TRDE 106, CE TRDE 148

Designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience, this course provides the theoretical foundation to become a commercial driver.  Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a certificate of completion and a Class A- Commercial Driver’s License. 

Prerequisites: Prospective student must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid drivers license, a good driving record (demonstrated through a court ordered motor vehicle report) and pass a physical examination. Additionally student must have passed Commercial Driver Training theory course and successfully obtained their commercial driver’s license learner’s permit.
Class Meets: Monday through Friday (Time varies)


Class “B” Commercial Driver Training

Designed for individuals with little or no commercial driving experience, this course provides the theoretical foundation to become a commercial driver. Upon Successful completion of the course student will receive a certificate of completion and a Class B-Commercial Driver’s License. 

Prerequisites: Prospective student must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License, a good driving record (demonstrated through a court ordered motor vehicle report) and pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.


Passenger Driver Practice

Description:
Students receive training in class B commercial vehicles. Students will learn the regulations that governs each classification and why commercial vehicles are identified by classifications.     Upon successful completion of the course, Passenger Endorsement designation will be added to student’s license.  

Prerequisites: Prospective student must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid drivers license, a good driving record (demonstrated through a court ordered motor vehicle report) and pass a physical examination. Additionally, Student must currently hold a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License.

Commercial Driver –Refresher Training

Designed for individuals with commercial driving experience, this course provides drivers with a review of the current rules, regulations and requirements to which all commercial drivers must adhere.

Prerequisites: Prospective student must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid commercial drivers license, a good driving record (demonstrated through a court ordered motor vehicle report) and a current Department of Transportation Medical Card.

Fork Lift Operator

CE TRDE– 118

Description:
This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements by providing students with the necessary training to become a safe and effective fork Lift Operator.  Students will receive training in vehicle inspection, safety operation, and maintenance and workplace safety.

Prerequisites: Qualifying students must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, in good mental and physical health, be able to lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds unassisted, bend and stretch and sit and or stand for extended periods of time.  The minimum age requirement in most cases is 18, although some companies require operators to be at least 21 years of age, operators are not required to hold a state driver’s license


Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management

Designed for individuals interested in entry-level employment in warehouse and distribution.  Students will review as well as gain operational knowledge of the current rules, regulations and requirements to which all warehousing and distribution centers adhere.

Prerequisites: Prospective student must be 18 years of age or older, physically able to stand/sit for a minimum of four hours (unassisted), lift fifty (50) pounds, unassisted, pass a complete physical examination and drug screen.  Must be able to read, write and understand English.
