Steps for Admission and Registration
Welcome to Olive-Harvey College!
Olive-Harvey College is an open-admission institution and glad to know that you have plans for your future and have decided to come here to pursue your educational goals. We welcome applicants who are: Graduating from OR graduates of an accredited high school, General Education Development (G.E.D.) certified, Transferring from another college or university, 18 years of age or older and have not completed high school, but do qualify for college level work.
You can follow the steps below in order to complete the admissions process and register for your class(es). To view and print in .pdf format, you will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader.
Admission Form: Obtain, complete, and return an Admission Form to the Admissions Office - Room 1410 A29. All new students must have copies of their high school and any college transcripts forwarded to the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office will provide you with the appropriate forms. These documents MUST be in a sealed envelope. Hand-carried transcripts, in a sealed envelope, will be accepted.

Entrance Exam: Located in room 2401, the Testing Center offers appointment and walk-in testing. A placement test is necessary if you are taking your first college level English, Reading and/or Math course, or any course for which English, Reading or Math is a prerequisite. Students seeking a degree, who have not completed English 101 or Math elsewhere, or do not have current scores (within 2 years) on file, must take the placement test as well. Testing must be completed before seeing a College Advisor.

Attend an Orientation: Orientations are held each semester; they provide a quick start toward a successful college experience.

Meet with a College Advisor: Discuss information for degrees, classes and an educational plan. Bring important information with you, such as your placement test scores, transcripts (if coming from another college), and a registration form. The registration form can be obtained from the Student Services Support Center, Room 1410.

Meet with a Financial Aid Advisor in the Financial Aid Office: If you plan to use financial aid to pay for your classes. You must have your financial aid paperwork completed and have obtained a deferment letter BEFORE taking your registration card to the Registrar for entry. The letter is your statement for payment. Classes entered without payment or the deferment letter will be entered, however, after 36 hours and no payment, the classes will be deleted from the system. Take care of financial aid matters before having classes entered.

Registration Form: Take your completed registration form to the Registrar's Office, Room 1405. Registrar staff will input your class registration into the system. You must have a driver's license or State ID for proof of residence.

Payment: Pay tuition and fees or turn in your deferment letter at the Cashier's Office, Room 1108 C1. The Cashier's Office will provide you with a printout of your class schedule; you have now completed your enrollment.

Photo ID: Obtain a student photo ID from the Security Office, Room 1109. Your student photo ID is required to access many services, including Learning Resources, Computer Lab and Testing.

TextBooks: Purchase your books from the campus bookstore located on the lower level of the college, Room L316-L317.

Transportation: To obtain a CTA U-PASS, you must have 12 credited hours or more for the Spring or Fall semester and 6 credited hours for the Summer. The office of Student Activities is Room L426J.
