International Students

 

The Office of International Student Affairs provides services for applicants and international students enrolled at Olive-Harvey College. Our goal is to enable international students to have successful academic, cultural and personal experiences while enrolled at the College. At Olive-Harvey, we view the presence of International Students on our campus as an opportunity for students and community members to gain broader knowledge of the diverse and multicultural world we share. Additionally, International Students make significant contributions to the college's academic, cultural and economic vitality.

 

International Student Admission Requirements

The following requirements must be met to apply to Olive-Harvey College. The deadline is May 1st for the fall semester and October 1st for the spring semester.

  1. You must be a graduate from an accredited secondary school.
  2. You must prove proficiency in the English language by achieving one of the following:
    1. A TOEFL (test of English as a foreign language) score of 450, paper and pencil test, or 133, computerized test
    2. Transferable credit from an accredited US institution of higher education, the equivalent of two years study of English Composition courses.
  3. You must submit notarized or certified copies of original academic documents and Post-Secondary Education, if applicable.
  4. You must have all secondary and post-secondary school transcripts evaluated by a recognized foreign credential evaluation service. The secondary school evaluation should be a document or general report. All post-secondary level coursework must be evaluated using a course-by-course report.   5. If you have attended any other college or university and plan to transfer credit hours to Olive-Harvey College, you must request a Transcript Evaluation Form.
  6. Proofs of health insurance or applicant may purchase health insurance through the college campus business office.
  7. A $100 non-refundable certifies check or money order application fee out of which $50 will be credited towards your first year's tuition cost.

Notification of International Application Status

After receiving your application materials, Olive-Harvey College will notify you of your application status (incomplete or complete). If your application is incomplete, the missing materials will be listed in a letter addressed to the applicant. Please allow a minimum of eight weeks after the complete file is received for notification of an admission decision. If you are accepted, you will receive the necessary documents to begin preparation for entering the USA to begin your studies at Olive-Harvey College.

 

International Tuition, Fees and Expenses

In order to enroll at Olive-Harvey College, you must provide a letter from a bank, employer, or financial sponsor indicating evidence that you have adequate financial support. The necessary amount of financial support is determined by the college and is subject to change. The necessary dollar figures would need to be equal or better than the total listed under estimated expenses. It is important to note that, as an international student, any paid employment in which you may wish to engage must be on the campus of Olive-Harvey College. You may work up to 20 hours per week on campus.

 

Current tuition is $314.95 per semester hour (subject to change) with a non-refundable fee of $25.00 per term. International students with student visas are required to register for a minimum of 12 semester hours per term. Full time students must also pay an activity fee of $100 for total cost of $3,904.40 per term. (For every semester hour over 12 add $314.95.)This covers only tuition. Tuition is payable in full at the time of the actual registration. No partial payments will be accepted.

 

All International Students under F1 status (student visa) attending Olive-Harvey College must have health insurance before they can register for classes (no exceptions), Student must either purchase through Olive-Harvey College business office or provide proof of coverage through another company.

 

Expenses

Although the admission decisions are made without evidence of financial support, Certificates of Eligibility (either form I-20 used for F-1 student visa or from IAP-66 for J-1 student visa) cannot be prepared without such evidence. A Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is needed to apply for a student visa at the American embassy or consulate board. Married students should add an additional $6,000.00 for each dependent traveling to the USA.
